Flying Skills – Bronze, Silver and Gold Wings

The MAAA wants to encourage all members to improve their flying skills and has developed a 3-level award structure which shows flight skills achievements ranging from beginner to advanced. The awards are called “Wings” with the simplest level being Bronze Wings then ranging up to Silver and Gold Wings.

To achieve a Wings award you have to pass a proficiency test where you perform specific manoeuvres. Your ability is assessed by an MAAA registered instructor. In the club we are fortunate to have 3 instructors:

Heath Mackay – club Chief Flying Instructor
Greg Lance – club Instructor
Glen Newbown – club Instructor

There is information published for each proficiency level and also for different types of aircraft and you can read all the details on the club website.

If you are interested in getting Wings awards then have a look at the forms to see what is involved and have a chat with one of the club Instructors.
