We are going to have a Spot Landing competition to run at the same time as our May BBQ. The competition is open to all club members and any type of aircraft (except vertical take-off/landing aircraft such as helicopters and quadcopters etc) so any sort of plane, flying wing or glider. The winner will be the pilot who touches down closest to the “SPOT” as decided by the judge (or judges). The winner will be awarded the glory and inner glow that comes from being best in the club on the day.
So that we’re all clear on the rules for the competition they are:
- any aircraft type can enter except helis, quads or any vertical take-off/landing aircraft
- the landing spot is where the aircraft first touches down
- aircraft must come to a stop after the spot landing – no touch-and-go
- a spot landing attempt is only valid if it is observed by the judge (judges?)
- you can have as many spot landing entries as you want during the comp but must allow other entrants a clear run at their spot landing attempts
- the comp runs from the time the judge is ready until he/she/they leave or midday whichever comes first
- the judges’ decision is final
- no prizes but winners and good attempts will be awarded a mention in the newsletter and, of course, the glory of success on the day
Entries are made on the day.
