NSFC WhatsApp Community

Your committee has decided to continue with WhatsApp for the club and to that end a Namadgi Flyers community has been set up on WhatsApp. Within the community there are 2 chat groups one called “Committee” for committee members to raise/discuss issues amongst themselves. The 2nd group is called “Whose Flying When” and the idea is to allow club members to chat and find out who is going out flying. In addition any club member or group of club members can create their own groups outside of the Namadgi Flyers community to keep in touch with their own group of friends (this is what the Williamsdale heli group do to organise their flying and other activities).

Membership of the “Whose Flying When” group is open to all club members so if you would like to be included send an email to any of the committee members and they will add you to the group. We’re trying to make this whole thing as “self-managing” as possible so all group members are also group admins so can add other members. One idiosyncrasy of WhatsApp is that group members who are not in your addressbook show up as their phone number only. If you want their name then you need to add an addressbook entry for that person.

If the person you want to add to WhatsApp doesn’t have the app installed then you will have to send their invite by a link and they will be prompted to download the app. The app is available on IOS, MacOS, Android and PC so its very easy to use and synchronises across platforms.

Finally, it’s not compulsory to use WhatsApp but if you do and find is useful, not useful or have suggestions on how it can be used better then add your comments to this post or send them in an email to any committee member.
