About the Viagra Cup …

The 2025 Viagra Cup competition runs from January through to November. The objective is to achieve the longest flight from a single engine run.

The contest is open to all club members with any aircraft and it runs continuously through the year not just during BBQs. Every flight can be an entry and you can enter as many times as you want. There are 3 classes (1) gliders, (2) powered aircraft (except Tomboys) and (3) Tomboys. You can also enter in more than 1 class. You can find the rules here (you will have to log in to read them).

Send your results to the competition director (currently the secretary@namadgisfc.org.au) and they will be published throughout the year on the forum and in the newsletter with the final results announced at the club’s Christmas BBQ in December.

Email the secretary if you have any questions about the comp or ask them in the comments below …

  1. I have a question about the rules for powered gliders in the Viagra cup.
As evidenced by the number of repairs to the front of my Phoenix, landings are currently my achilles heel. Because of this, I may need to use my motor to help on approach – would it be OK to stop the Viagra Cup flight timer as soon as my motor comes back on for landing?
I have full telemetry recorded so I could provide evidence of the engine-free flight time.

    1. Hi Alex,
I guess the first thing I should say is that the rules are the rules, but …
… the whole point of the comp is to take part and have fun by doing something a bit different from flying circuits and, maybe, also enhance your flying skills . It is not a serious comp, no one is going to monitor your flying, check your model or put in protests. You decide when you want to enter and what results you submit. No one wants you to risk your model by sticking religiously to some rule.
So what I suggest is that you have ago, fly in the way in which you feel comfortable, put in some results and see how your flying and your results change over the year. That’s what I’m doing.
      Neil
