Contrary to what the other person in lockdown with me has to say, I have not been totally idle during my time in lockdown.
I have attached a few photos of a glider kit that I purchased on ebay many years ago and has been gathering dust in my shed. This was originally intended as a bungee launch glider but I have left the nose cone off and added an electric motor. This is a very light model and should perform fairly well I think.
Looks great Greg. What’s the AUW with battery going to be? And what’s the wingspan?
Not sure it is stated as less than a kilo as a bungee launch. I don’t think I have added much weight. It has balanced ok by moving the receiver from the front compartment to on the c of g under the wing. The wing span is just under 2 meters.
Good to see the fruits of your labour, Greg – and will be even better once we get a chance to see it in the flesh floating up nicely on those hard-to-find-but-sometimes-stumbled-across thermals.
Cheers,
Glen
Very basic construction Glen. I has foam core wing centre and fronts of the wing outer sections which I had to sheet with balsa. I will probably have to alter the motor thrust line after initial flights.
