Thanks for posting Gary. It’s really interesting to see it flying from another perspective.
Jeremy, Yeah that is brilliant! It was terrific to see the X-100 Wing fly, bloody amazing structure but it flew beautifully!

Gary, this video is very helpful.
I’ve had a close (frame by frame) look at this video. It seems like the plane pitches up with high throttle. Immediately after release you can see the nose pitch up, but as soon as you hear the throttle being backed off, the nose comes down and then it seems to fly at a better attitude.
The same thing happened in the second launch later that day, but it was much more pronounced, I think because I moved the CG a bit further back, and kept the elevon reflex quite high.
I’m now thinking for my next launch I might keep a similar CG to the one use in the video (26mm forward of the TE of the front wing), but add some more down thrust to the motor mount.
I’d welcome any other thoughts on this.
I wasn’t aware that the X Wing was pitching up when you gave it more throttle. I agree, it looks like your C of G is OK, but definitely if this is happening a couple of washers to add downthrust would seem to be needed.
Your response has made me realise that getting somebody to video a maiden flight is a good idea, as being able to analyse the flight like you have would be very useful. And a nice slow motion crash could be very entertaining.
Now who do you know had a slow motion crash with an X – 100 wing? 😎
