Defibrillator Battery

Hi Guys,

You may have noticed the Debrillator indicator has gone Red and bips occasionally and that the date of expiry for the battery lapsed In November. I visited St John’s Ambulance in Deakin who advised me that the batteries last years after the indicated replacement date and that it was not necessary to replace the battery until when you open the defibrillator there are no green lights or you don’t get a ready to rescue message. The batteries are very expensive, over $500.

Our defibrillator has two green lights which means we still have plenty of battery left, so following St John’s advice I propose that we replace the battery early in the new year to be on the safe side.

I suggest Flyers should open the defibrillator to see if it is still ready to rescue and in February we purchase a new battery.
