Dam Busters Story by Allan Lacock

Dam Busters Story – by Allan

It was an ordinary Sunday (22Feb) with the some of the usual suspects in attendance:

Don R, Greg L, Dave P, Dave B, Fred B, Glen N, Stuart J and Allan L.

The day was a tad cloudy but breezy.  Some, who had brought calm weather models, did not brave the elements.

It was noted that the baby eagle did not have such concerns about the wind.

Glen flew his ‘Middle’ Stick powered by an OS 25 FSR, previously belonging to Fred. The FSR was giving a little bit of trouble by stopping in flight.

One such stoppage saw the Stick landing in the dam, which thankfully was very low in water.

When Fred and Glen went to retrieve the model, they noticed that there were 4 sheep stuck in the mud and could not get out. They alerted the other club members upon returning to the club house (table of knowledge) and Greg L tried to contact the Farmer but could only leave a voice message.

Stuart shortly thereafter wondered off in the direction of the dam – and shortly a very muddy sheep was spotted gingerly climbing the far bank out of the dam. Stuart being a Country Boy had just squished into the mud and released the 4 sheep, with a bit of late assistance from Glen.  Hooray!

It was likely that they would have perished had not the Stick landed in the dam and that Stuart and Glen had not gone to retrieve the model. Fred opined, fairly, that his old FSR .25 takes full credit.

All’s well that ends well – but perhaps we should all take note and keep an eye on the dam surrounds whilst it remains a gluepot cum death-trap.

The farmer, Matt phoned Greg later in the day. He was away for the day. He was very appreciative of Stuart’s efforts and thanked all involved.

Well done Chaps.
