Last Wednesday (May 27th) the weather was great and there was a good turnout of keen flyers at Tharwa. Here are a few pics from the day …
… and Friday was just as good so another good turn out although there were mixed results from the flying …

Glad to see the return of flying interesting assortment of planes thats what a model club is about, sorry to se Jeremy’s didn’t go so well but I know he will triumph in the end. I had a excellent day on Wednesday finally got my Harman rocket in the air (it’s the red white plane on its own )
It was certainly a great day at out the flying field and great to see Craig Hancock apprentice pilot ably taught be Allan Laycock.
Clem, thanks for your positive words…..it really helped. I was feeling a bit down after Friday’s flying, but have had time to think about what to do next.
I’ve had a better look at the damage to the plane, and it looks like it can be rebuilt. I’ll need to reprint the front two fuse sections, but I’m hopeful I can join these cleanly to the rest of the fuse.
The cracks in the wingtips and tail are very clean, and should re-glue nicely.
I’d welcome any thoughts for the next launch.
Two things I’m thinking are to move the CG further forwards (although this may not help, from some of the discussion here – https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?3461065-3D-Printed-Infinity-Wing-Design/page11#post44664707).
The other was to try a bungee launch….?
The other plane (the X-85 funjet) was surprisingly not too bad. The nose section broke cleanly off, so it should be simple to reprint and glue on a new one. The wings were pretty much undamaged. Next time I’ll try a hand launch with this one.
